A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, September 3 at the construction site for a new 10,964 square foot Farm Credit Illinois regional office in Lawrenceville. The local staff team will continue serving members on farms and at the existing facility on Jefferson Street built in 1963 with 10 offices and one small conference room in a 4,500 square foot two-level building.
Farm Credit Illinois directors, senior managers, and local staff were joined by Lawrenceville Mayor David Courtney, Lawrence County Board Chair Jim Brewer, City of Lawrenceville Attorney Mike Neal, City Council members, and representatives of project contractor AKRA Builders, Inc.
The new facility, located at 2401 West Haven Road in Lawrenceville, will be positioned to serve a growing number of farm families, rural landowners, and agribusinesses across Lawrence, Wabash, Richland, and Crawford Counties. The Lawrenceville team currently serves 330 members who access more than $208 million of loan commitments and 65,000 acres of crop insurance coverage.
The future building will be better equipped to accommodate the future Lawrenceville team with space for up to 21 staff and a conference room and catering kitchen for up to 80 individuals. In addition to FCI events, the meeting space will also be available for use by the local agricultural community. The FCI Lawrenceville staff team will continue serving members at the existing office and on farms during construction. The new facility is expected to be complete by summer 2025.
