2020 FCI Agriculture Scholars Named

Thirty high school seniors were awarded $2,000 Farm Credit Illinois agriculture scholarships to pursue agriculture-related majors and careers.
This is the 17th year of the Farm Credit agriculture scholarship program which has awarded a total of $516,000 to 387 students since 2004 - $60,000 was awarded this year. Scholarship selections are based on a combination of academic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community organizations, and the applicant’s commitment to an agricultural career.
“Farm Credit Illinois scholars represent tomorrow’s agricultural leaders,” says Rod Stoll, vice president of marketplace engagement for FCI. “Investing in their education today – on behalf of our cooperative’s members – will help positively shape the future of the industry and Rural America.”
The following students were selected to receive a 2020 Farm Credit agriculture scholarship:
Ms. Lindsey Aden of St. Joseph (Champaign County) will graduate from St. Joseph-Ogden High School and attend the University of Georgia to study agribusiness. She is the daughter of Rick and Teresa Aden.
Ms. Mallory Ames of St. Joseph (Champaign County) will graduate from St. Joseph-Ogden High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study agricultural communications and business. She is the daughter of Keith and Becky Ames.
Ms. Anne Becker of Jacksonville (Morgan County) will graduate from Jacksonville High School and attend Oklahoma State University to study agricultural leadership. She is the daughter of Todd and Jane Becker.
Mr. Krayton Carter of Clinton (DeWitt County) will graduate from Clinton High School and attend Lake Land College to study agriculture production and management. He is the son of Stacy and Belinda Carter.
Ms. Anna Cross of Oblong (Crawford County) will graduate from Oblong Unit #4 and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. She is the daughter of John and Karen Cross.
Mr. Coy Crull of Grayville (Edwards County) will graduate from Mount Carmel High School and attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale to study agribusiness economics. He is the son of Ryan Crull and Senay Klaus.
Ms. Bailee Fanning of Milford (Iroquois County) will graduate from Milford High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study agricultural and consumer economics, public policy and law. She is the daughter of Terry and Jody Fanning.
Mr. Alec Fewkes of Ellery (Edwards County) will graduate from Woodlawn High School and attend Wabash Valley College to study agricultural production. He is the son of Russell Fewkes of Ellery and Mendie Heater of Dix.
Ms. Mackenzie Harmon of Morrisonville (Christian County) will graduate from Morrisonville High School and attend Lincoln Land Community College to study agricultural communications. She is the daughter of Bill and Wendy Harmon.
Ms. Logan Hendrix of Dennison (Clark County) will graduate from Marshall High School and attend Indiana State University to study environmental science. She is the daughter of Justin and Maggie Patrick.
Ms. Katie Huff of Dix (Jefferson County) will graduate from Mt. Vernon High School and attend Black Hawk College to study pre-veterinary medicine. She is the daughter of Brian and Misty Huff.
Mr. Payton Kaeb of Buckley (Iroquois County) will graduate from Cissna Park High School and attend Parkland College to study precision agriculture. He is the son of Warren and Jill Kaeb.
Ms. Kelsey Knebel of Pocahontas (Madison County) will graduate from Highland High School and attend Kaskaskia College to study agriculture. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Kim Knebel.
Ms. Emma Kuhns of Mason (Effingham County) will graduate from Altamont Community High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study agricultural and consumer economics, public policy and law. She is the daughter of Stan and Shelly Kuhns.
Mr. Reagan Kulenkamp of Carlinville (Macoupin County) will graduate from Carlinville High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study agricultural and consumer economics, agribusiness markets and management. He is the son of Roy and Cathy Kulenkamp.
Ms. Carlie Mettler of Highland (Madison County) will graduate from Highland High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study animal sciences. She is the daughter of Dustin and Rene Barr.
Mr. Tanner Mickey of Taylorville (Christian County) will graduate from Taylorville High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. He is the son of Jon and Carla Mickey.
Ms. Samantha Mies of Loami (Sangamon County) will graduate from Waverly High School and attend Kansas State University to study agricultural economics, concentrating in international trade and development. She is the daughter of Ted and Julie Mies.
Mr. Lance Mitchell of Olney (Richland County) will graduate from Richland County High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. He is the son of Aaron and Debbie Mitchell.
Mr. Nick Mitchell of Kansas (Edgar County) will graduate from Kansas High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. He is the son of Michelle Cottle and Ryan Mitchell.
Ms. Lexi Mueller of Columbia (Monroe County) will graduate from Valmeyer High School and attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale to study agricultural education. She is the daughter of Matthew and Pamela Mueller.
Ms. Jordi Oliver of Buncombe (Johnson County) will graduate from Vienna High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. She is the daughter of Cary and Michele Oliver.
Mr. Kade Portz of Marissa (Washington County) will graduate from Marissa High School and attend Murray State University to study agriculture systems technology and agribusiness economics. He is the son of Brent and Kim Portz.
Mr. Alex Remsey of Alto Pass (Union County) will graduate from Cobden High School and attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study agricultural and biological engineering. He is the son of Amy Remsey of Alto Pass and John Remsey of Cobden.
Mr. Eric Schafer of Owaneco (Christian County) will graduate from Taylorville High School and attend Butler Community College to study animal science. He is the son of Aaron and Sue Schafer.
Ms. Skye Schumaker of Heyworth (DeWitt County) will graduate from Heyworth High School and attend Lake Land College to study agricultural business and political science, pre-law. She is the daughter of Rachael and the late Roland Schumaker.
Ms. Matilynn Thornsbury of Shipman (Macoupin County) will graduate from Southwestern High School and attend Lincoln Land Community College as an agriculture transfer. She is the daughter of Matt and Kendra Thornsbury.
Ms. Sara Timm of Iuka (Marion County) will graduate from Cisne High School and attend Kaskaskia College to study pre-veterinary medicine. She is the daughter of Jason and Jennifer Timm.
Ms. Paige Van Dyke of Louisville (Clay County) will graduate from North Clay Community High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. She is the daughter of Jon and Katrina Van Dyke.
Mr. Travis Wilke of Olney (Richland County) will graduate from Richland County High School and attend Lake Land College as an agriculture transfer. He is the son of Ron and the late Shelley Wilke.
